Published Articles in IJOT

INDIAN JOURNAL OF OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY IJOT GUIDELINES TO AUTHORS

The Indian Journal of Occupational Therapy is published three times in a year: April, Aug. and December. It represents the science and practice of Occupational Therapy in India. The contributions worth publishing are also welcome from any part of the world. Contribution should be original and in English. Three copies of the manuscript with neat and clean illustrations should be submitted along with print version in MS Word on a CD. Papers are accepted on the understanding that they may be subject to editorial revision and that no substantial part has been or will be published elsewhere. The contributions are reported on by at least 2 members of the Editorial Board and decision regarding acceptance is based upon their advice. Books for review may be sent by authors or publishers. IJOT regrets it will have to decline consideration of any article, which does not conform to the following standard requirements, developed by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors.

PREPARATION OF MANUSCRIPTS:

Manuscripts should be neatly typed with double line spacing, on one side of white bond paper 22x28 cm. with margins of at least 2.5 cm. Number pages consecutively, in the upper right and corner of each page.

Title Page:

Title page should be on a separate sheet and contain -
  • The Title of the paper concise but informative.
  • Full name of each author with academic degrees, designation and place of working.
  • Name of department(s) and institutions where the study was done.
  • Period of study: From __________ to __________
  • Name, address, Telephone and e-mail etc. of the first author responsible for correspondence regarding the manuscript.
  • Disclaimers, if any
  • The source(s) of support in the form of grants and equipments etc.

Abstract and Keywords:

An informative structured abstract not exceeding 150 words must accompany each manuscript. Three to ten key words, preferably terms from the medical subject headings from index medicus should be provided.

Text:

Text of the manuscripts should be concise and have following units in SI system:
  • Introduction 5. Conclusion
  • Material & Method 6. Acknowledgement
  • Results 7. References
  • Discussion

Tables:

Tables should be self explanatory and should supplement not duplicate the text. Type each table (preferably four) on a separate sheet with double space. Number tables consecutively with a brief title for each. Place explanatory matter in foot notes. If data is used from another published or unpublished source, obtain permission and acknowledge fully.

Illustration:

Use only those distinct illustrations that clarify and increase understanding of the text. The illustrations should be produced by a professional artist. All illustrations must be numbered and cited in the text. Clear and recent black and white glossy print photographs usually 127x173 mm. but no longer than 203x254 mm. of each illustrations should be submitted. Following information should by typed on a gummed label and affixed to the back of each illustration: figure number, title of manuscript, name of first author and arrow indicating top. Do not write in ink at the back of the photograph. We regret not to accept the article where the photographs and illustrations are not clear and distinct.

Legends for illustration:

Type legends for illustration double spaced, starting on a separate page with arabic numerical corresponding to the illustrations.

The References:

In the text should include only those that are important and have been studied in full. They should be represented in the text by the arabic numbers in superscript in order of their appearence. Use 'et al :' after the first author if there are more than 4 authors. Use the style of the examples below, which is based on the formats used by NLM in Index Medicus.

A. Standard Journal Articles:

Holstein A, Lewis GB. : Fractures of the Humerus with radial nerve paralysis. J. Bone Joint Surg (Am). 1963 : 45 - A : 1382-8. [If there are more than 2 authors et. al. should be used.]

B. Chapter in Book: (Multi Author Edited Books)

Cruickshank CND. The Microanatony of the epidermis in relation to trauma. In : Bed sore biomechanics. London. Macmillan Press Ltd. 1976 : 39-46

C. Books :( with Personal Authors)

Tuli S.M. Tuberculosis of the skeltal system. 2nd ed. Bangalore, Jaypee Brothers. 1997 : 181-183.

Undertaking:

The manuscripts must be accompanied with an Undertaking on the prescribed format, duly filled and signed by each author.

Letters to the Editor:

We welcome Letters to the Editor on matters of general occupational therapy concern or about recently published articles. Such letters will be subject to selection and editing. Letters should be under 300 words in length, double spaced throughout, signed by all authors, and fully referenced.

Important:

Papers presented in AIOTA Conferences and Authors desiring to publish their Articles in IJOT are advised to send 3 concise copies of their papers as per 'Guidelines to Authors' along with 'Undertaking'.
